If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. The nurse will need to know which countries you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. The nurse will also advise you if malaria tablets are required.
It is important to make your travel appointment as early as possible – at least 6 weeks before you travel. Some travel vaccinations require a course of injections over a number of weeks and need time to work. Some malaria tablets will also need to be started in advance of reaching your destination.
Please note: some travel vaccinations and malaria tablets are not covered by the NHS and are therefore chargeable.
